American Biodiesel, Inc. does business as Community Fuels and is a privately-held California corporation. Community Fuels’ primary activities fall into three areas:
- Production and wholesale of high quality biodiesel;
- Research and development of alternative feedstocks and process technologies; and
- Education and training on the proper handling and use of biodiesel.
Rapid growth in the biodiesel industry is creating opportunities for innovation. The team at Community Fuels is working diligently to identify solutions to some of the current challenges and to develop new projects that will expand the role that biodiesel can play in our nation’s energy portfolio.
Biodiesel:
Biodiesel is a clean burning fuel produced from renewable resources. Although biodiesel contains no petroleum, it can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel, creating a biodiesel blend. Biodiesel is biodegradable, non-toxic and simple to use; most diesel engines can use biodiesel with no major modifications.
Biodiesel can be used with existing industrial equipment and infrastructure, offering an immediate means of offsetting part of the current demand for petroleum-based fuels. At a variety of blend levels, benefits of biodiesel include reduced emissions of greenhouse gasses and other harmful pollutants, enhanced national energy security, improved engine performance, job creation, and expanded markets for domestic agricultural products. Biodiesel: It makes sense.
