Community Fuels to be Featured at San Joaquin Valley
Clean Energy & Fuels Conference
December 3, 2007 in Fresno, CA

Dr. Chris Guay, Director of Research and Development for Community Fuels, will present “Biodiesel: Clean Fuel for the Valley” at the San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy & Fuels Conference

Encinitas, California, November 31, 2007— On December 3rd, the San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization (SJVCEO) in partnership with the Sierra Club will host the first San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy & Fuels Conference in Fresno. The conference will provide a forum to highlight specific clean energy and fuel opportunities throughout the eight county region of the San Joaquin Valley and is expected to be attended by over 250 representatives of clean technology businesses, venture investors, workforce development, policy makers, government officials, utilities, agriculture, environmental groups, transportation and others interested in the future of clean energy and fuels in the San Joaquin Valley.

Dr. Chris Guay will present during the “Wind/Solar/Bio-fuels/Fuel Cell Technology/Venture Capital Session.” During his presentation, Dr. Guay will identify the current opportunities for biodiesel, the obstacles that are limiting the growth of biodiesel and will provide recommendations for what can be done to increase biodiesel use in the Valley. You can learn more about the Conference at www.valleycleanenergyconference.org.

An intense interest in biofuels has developed as a result of high petroleum prices, concerns about the future viability of petroleum resources, and an increasing awareness of the consequences of greenhouse gas emissions associated with fossil fuel combustion. Biodiesel is a clean-burning, renewable fuel produced from agricultural sources (such as vegetable oils and animal fats) that can be used by most compression-ignition (diesel) engines with few or no modifications. Biodiesel can be used with existing industrial equipment and infrastructure, offering an immediate means of offsetting part of the current
demand for petroleum-based fuels. Benefits of biodiesel include reduced emissions of greenhouse gasses and other harmful pollutants, enhanced national energy security, job creation, and expanded markets for domestic agricultural products.
