Community Fuels Selected as a Biofuel Industry Speaker for the Federal
Laboratory Consortium Fall Meeting

September 9 – 11, 2008, Denver, Colorado

Chris Guay, Ph.D., Director of Research and Development for Community Fuels, will present during the “Energy Overview: Technology Needs and Technology Offerings” session.

Encinitas, California, August 29, 2008—The Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC) is the nationwide network of federal laboratories designed to link laboratory technologies with private industry expertise. The FLC was formed in 1974 and now includes more than 700 major federal laboratories and related centers and agencies. The mission of the FLC is to promote and facilitate the rapid movement of laboratory research results and technologies into the mainstream of the U.S. economy.

The 2008 FLC Mid-Continent and Far West Regional Meeting will focus on the topic of energy - including alternative, renewable, and traditional energy sources. Community Fuels was selected to participate due to the company’s biofuel industry expertise, previous award of a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant, and active research and commercialization efforts with federal laboratories.

Chris Guay, Ph.D., Director of Research and Development for Community Fuels, will present during the “Energy Overview: Technology Needs and Technology Offerings” session. He will provide an update on the state of the biodiesel industry and identify technology needs related to production cost, overall energy budget, and environmental effects. Active research initiatives will be discussed, including the development of alternative feedstocks, new classes of reaction catalysts, and novel technologies for increasing production efficiency. “Collaboration among private industry and federal laboratories is needed to translate existing technologies into commercial, renewable energy solutions.” says Guay.

This FLC meeting will be held in Denver, Colorado from September 9-11, 2008 and meeting information is available at http://www.zyn.com/flcmc/meeting/.
