Dr. Clifford Detz Joins Community Fuels’ Board of Directors

Encinitas, California, June 1, 2008— Community Fuels is pleased to announce that Dr. Clifford Detz
has joined the company’s Board of Directors and brings expertise in the development and
commercialization of fuel-related technologies. “Community Fuels has many encouraging R&D projects related to alternative feedstocks and process technologies for biodiesel. Dr. Detz’ experience will help us maximize the commercial potential of these projects,” states Lisa Mortenson, CEO of Community Fuels. “I am pleased to be a part of this growing company with many significant opportunities. I look forward to having a substantive role guiding technology and commercialization activities for Community Fuels,” says Dr. Detz.
Dr. Detz’ experience includes 26 years with Chevron Corporation where he served as the founding and senior member of Chevron Technology Ventures and represented Chevron on the Board of Directors for multiple portfolio companies. Dr. Detz also managed Chevron’s Strategic Research and Technology Alliances group for 8 years where he identified and negotiated over 50 technology and commercialization collaborations with universities, federal laboratories and private companies.
Dr. Detz has extensive experience with catalytic materials. At Chevron he managed the development and commercialization of a new type of reforming catalyst for gasoline production. He served as the Director of Business Development for Codexis where he developed partnerships and relationships for the application of a biocatalyst technology in the chemical, energy and industrial markets. Dr. Detz also serves as a Business Advisory Board member for Oryxe Energy International, a fuel additives business for traditional and renewable fuels.
Dr. Detz earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from the University of Chicago and a BA in Chemistry from Brown University. Among his many activities, he served as the Chairman of the Policy Advisory Board for the UCLA Center for Clean Technologies, served as an advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy for its Refining Partnership Technology Initiative, and was a member of the National Petroleum Council Industry Technology Needs study.
